Dan Shuck
Dan grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and attended Roosevelt High School. He majored in history and philosophy at Creighton University where he earned his B.A. in 1982. He then returned to his home town and attended Drake University Law School achieving a J.D. in 1985. Following graduation, he served as a Law Clerk to The Honorable Maynard J. V. Hayden on the Iowa Court of Appeals. He then was a felony prosecutor in Black Hawk County, Waterloo, Iowa, achieving the position of First Deputy Assistant Attorney.
Dan began his affiliation with the Heidman Law Firm in 1989 practicing in the Des Moines office. In 1991, Dan moved to the Sioux City office and has been a partner since 1994. Recently, Dan founded the Shuck Law Firm. Dan's general practice includes, but is not limited to, civil litigation, complex litigation and personal injury.
Dan is licensed to practice law in Iowa (1985), Nebraska (1992), South Dakota (2005), and Minnesota (2006).Dan is a member of the American, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Woodbury County Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice in the Federal Courts of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
Dan is a longstanding participant in the American Mock Trial Association. He has served on their Board of Directors, is a Hall of Fame Judge, and was the President of the Judges Hall of Fame. He recently taught Trial Advocacy at Morningside College where he was an Adjunct Professor. He also served as the coach of the nationally ranked Mock Trial Team. He is a Fellow of the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers and was on the Iowa Defense Council Board of Directors from 1999 to 2005. He is a National Institute for Trial Advocacy instructor and annually teaches several courses in trial techniques.
Dan and his family enjoy spending their vacations on Ten Mile Lake in Northern Minnesota. Dan and his wife, Kim, have six children, Curtis, Andrew, Maggie, Seth, Sarah and Sam.

Kim Shuck
Kim was born and raised in the Moville area of Western Iowa. She graduated from Woodbury Central High School and then attended and graduated Cum Laude from Westmar University. Following her graduation, she began her career as a paralegal in the Siouxland Community. Her experience over the past 13 years as a paralegal includes criminal law, family law, worker's compensation, insurance defense, personal injury and civil litigation.
Kim has been an active member of the Iowa Association of Legal Assistants and has served terms as Regional Director and Second Vice President. She is also a volunteer for the Siouxland Red Cross.
In her free time, Kim enjoys reading, pottery, working out and spending time with her family and friends.

Amanda Gibson
Amanda Gibson has been a paralegal in the Siouxland area for several years. Her experience includes insurance defense, personal injury, worker's compensation, criminal law, family law and bankruptcy. She has familiarity with litigation in several states as well as United States District Court. She has also worked on cases in the Nebraska and Iowa Supreme Courts. Her skills include: requesting, organizing and analyzing medical records; civil and criminal searches; deposition management and summaries; file and document organization; and liasing with fact and expert witnessess. Amanda also manages trial logistics such as preparing trial exhibits and trial binders and interacting with clients, fact witnessess and expert witnesses.
Amanda was born and raised in the quaint community of Emmetsburg, Iowa. Amanda moved to Sioux City in August, 1999, and attended Morningside College for two years. She has always been very active in secondary activities, such as music and theatre. She also reads extensively and enjoys sewing.

Seth Epling
Seth is currently a student at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and is double majoring in communications and theater. Seth interned with the Shuck Law Firm in the summer of 2009 and 2010, and just finished a Christmas break 2010/2011 internship. During Seth's time at the Firm, he prepared a small claims case for trial, participated in several civil jury trials, drafted pleadings, interviewed witnesses and was involved in numerous activities that are integral to a trial practice.
Law school was an initial consideration for Seth, however he now has his sites set on an acting career in Hollywood and is seeking an internship in Los Angeles for the summer of 2011. We look forward to having Seth return for additional internships throughout his remaining college career.

Beth Norton
Beth Norton is a student at Morningside College studying Political Science, History, and International Affairs. She is also a member of the Morningside track team. During the spring semester in 2011 she interned at the Shuck Law Firm where she was able to participate in the discovery process of major cases occurring at the time, which allowed her to cultivate skills in research, summaries, and documental organization.
In Beth’s upcoming fall semester she will be studying abroad in the Netherlands, where she hopes to grow in her knowledge of foreign cultures and languages. Beth will begin her preparation for the LSATs and discovering her options for law school. She will continue to stay in contact with the Shuck Law Firm as she works through the process of applying to law school and into the future.

Marshall Tuttle
Marshall is currently a student at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. He interned with the Shuck Law Firm in the fall of 2009. During Marshall's time at the Firm, he was able to participate in a number of activities that are integral to a trial practice. In addition to his diligence regarding his internship, during the fall of 2009 Mr. Tuttle also participated as a starter on the Morningside football team.
Marshall is in the process of planning campus visits to Drake Law School, Creighton Law School and Iowa Law School, and is beginning his preparation to take the LSAT. Marshall will continue to stay in contact with the Shuck Law Firm to work towards his goal of attending law school.

Kourtney Self
Kourtney is a junior at Morningside College where she is majoring in Mass Communication and Legal Studies. At Morningside, she shows her leadership and discipline qualities through several campus organizations including; Morningside Campus Event Series, Morningside Parking Committee, Morningside Resident Hall Association, Morningside Activities Council, Morningside Student Government, Morningside Finance Committee, Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, Morningside Internship Experience, MCTV, Celebration of Excellent Resident Life Panel, and The Collegian Reporter.
Prior to attending Morningside, Kourtney took an oath in the United States Air Force. She dedicated 14 weeks to physical fitness, discipline, leadership, and obtained a vast knowledge and understanding of the United State Air Force while serving as a superior to nearly 3,000 Airman.
Kourtney is interning with the Shuck Law Firm for the 2010 spring semester and plans to attend a master program for law upon graduation from Morningside in May of 2011. Ideally, she would like to continue down the path of the Armed Forces as a JAG officer.
Kourtney is the daughter of Jerry and Kelly Self of Moville, Iowa. She has two sisters; Erin, 15, and Alexandria, 10. She enjoys reading in her free time.
